Updated 4/30/2025… The Hood County Prayer Force is delighted to invite you to engage God with us at 5:30pm, May 1st for…
The National Day of Prayer – Gathering and Prayer Walk
The When and What: We’ll start by gathering at the Gazebo on the Square at 5:30pm sharp to pray in unison, worship and rally our hearts with local pastors briefly and begin our walk around the Square and beyond well before 6. More on the route below. After the local walk, we encourage a prayerful expansion outside the square area to include all parts of the county and needs of the county God has laid on your heart. So three parts:
- The Gathering
- The Unified Walk
- The Expansion of smaller groups into all domains and areas
The Vision for 2025: Engaging God together. The short start at the Gazebo is strategic. We want to emphasize the activation of each and every participant to walk together and pray over the city, starting from the heart of Hood County, building faith together in linking arms and hearts across the local body of Christ. Since many are new to participating in a prayer walk, please read this guide when you have a chance to better understand the power of it.
The Expansion Areas for prayer teams:
After we arrive at City Hall, we will call out to all who gather regarding the prayers going out for the needs of the city, and highlight volunteers who will lead other prayer participants to join them as we close at City Hall to head straight over to the following locations:
- GISD Admin Building, for schools and all the kids – 217 N Jones – Pro 22:6 – June Mearns
- The Jail and Sheriffs offices – Kathy Biggers
- Memorial Lane, for all active and retired military – Jenny Thomas (walk through the park trail) – Ps 18:29-32, Ps 144:1-4
- The County offices on Bridge… Clerk and Social Services (leader TBA) – That all can find work and purpose in the Lord.
- Other areas may emerge as we walk and gather. If you want to lead a group after City Hall, just let us know and we’ll announce it. Make room for God to speak to you about this.
Overall Prayer Points:
- Boldness for the church to stand up against the strongholds of complacency that keep the church from leading the culture toward the Kingdom
- Continued heart of giving as a testimony of overcoming that stands in contrast to the history of greed, recognized as a debilitating principality in our County
- Humility and repentance from allowing intimidating spirits and practices that silence and neutralize the voice of faith and the liberty of Hood County citizens
- Kingdom Prayers over all DOMAINS from our county and outward, according to our Hood County Prayer Guide
We expect there to be as many different points as there are saints present, so please pray about what you want to bring with you and remain aware that the Holy Spirit will be in our midst and bring all things into remembrance.
The Route: Our plan is to do the following as we transition from the gathering portion… walking counter-clockwise around the courthouse and the Square in prayer as individuals and as groups for about 30 minutes. This will take us around the Square about 3-5 times, as each walker can choose a lane that matches their pace. The 4 lanes are:
- Lane 1) The inside sidewalk by the courthouse – Pray for County Authority… “Let Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on Earth, as it is in Heaven”. Pray for godly authority in all local government, free from bias and pride.
- Lane 2) The parking lot. This represents all who “come and go”, that they may do so in the freedom of John 10:9…
“I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures” - Lane 3) The courthouse outer sidewalk. The “outer courts” if you will. This is where we pray openly for those who have yet to enter into the holy place of God’s will for them. For those who “know of” Jesus, but have yet to experience His saving power that liberates us from the guilt of sin, allowing us to enter into the Holy court of heaven. (Eze 46). Here is where we see protests and the will of man expressed. Those here need a God-ward view.
- Lane 4) The storefront sidewalks. This is where the city history lives, where the strongholds are reinforced by the natural interests of man. Bless the stores! Connect with the owners and hear from heaven what to pray. Jn 16:13
Then we’ll spin off the Square together and gather again in front of City Hall and pray together for a blessing over the city offices and employees. From there, we head out to the places by car to finish off the event. We will have more clarity at the event and provide detailed instructions as we depart from the Gazebo area.
Getting the word out on the DAY OF: Please share this page on your social media sites let your pastors know about it. We still have flyers and you can also print out your own as well from this PDF.
Your people shall be volunteers In the day of Your power; In the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning, You have the dew of Your youth. Ps 110:3

24/7 Continuous Prayer
The goal of continuous prayer is to have Kingdom prayer going up to God from Hood County around the clock every day until Jesus returns. We are asking each church in Hood County to claim a day of the month and have its people pray on that day each month from midnight to midnight from now on. Some churches are not large enough to be able to cover 24 hours. In such cases, they may adopt a half day or a quarter day. To date, 14 churches have come on board and are covering 13 days of each month in continuous prayer.
We suggest that people pray in teams of two. They do not have to meet physically or pray at the church unless they choose to. They can pray with each other by telephone. When their time is up, they will call the next team and pray briefly with them to get them started.
If your church wishes to join with us, contact us at ptf@granburyministries.org
Prayer on the Square
The goal of Prayer on the Square is to have a prayer presence on Granbury Square to:
- Pray for our churches and for Hood County, Texas and America
- Pray with those wanting prayer
- Share Jesus with those who are interested
- Put a great face on Granbury/Hood County
As a service to those on the Square and to attract them to speak with us, we are passing out free bottled water.
Initially, prayer on the square is being provided on the first Saturday of each month from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eventually, we plan to increase this to every weekend and to cover a longer period of the day.
Prayer on the square is carried out by teams of two or more people each serving for one hour or more. Team members do NOT have to be from the same church.
