Once a year, people from all over join together in reading God’s Word aloud in public. We begin in Genesis 1 and read out loud through Revelation 22 on the Hood County Courthouse grounds in Granbury, Texas. People read in person on site at the Courthouse gazebo. Each person who wants to read is allotted a specific 15-minute time slot(s) when they read a portion of Scripture. They pick up where the previous person left off and continue reading until their time is up. This continues for about a week during the last week in April and the first week of May every year.
Our first International Bible Reading Marathon (BRM) of Granbury, TX was held in 2002. It takes about 85 hours to read through the Bible, so it’s broken into 336 15-minute segments.
Our desire is to have different people from our local area of Granbury/Hood County and all over the world read God’s Word during the Marathon. If you have a desire to read aloud in person, we’d love for you to sign up. In 2024, the Marathon begins on Friday, April 26 and continues through Wednesday, May 1. Sign-ups are underway.

Sign-up Instructions:
- Click on date you want to read. Only the dates in blue are selectable. (NOTE: The calendar that comes up will be the one for the current month. Click on the appropriate blue triangle pointer at the top of the calendar to change months.)
- In the box that appears, click on the start times of all the times you want to read.
- When finished selecting times for the selected date, click the X in the upper right hand corner of the times box. If you want to select times for another date, click on that date and repeat steps 2 and 3 as needed.
- All your selected times will be listed below the calendar. Verify that they are right. If not, cancel the incorrect times and re-select.
- Fill in your name, e-mail address and phone number.
- Hit Sign Up.
- It will take up to a minute from the time you click Sign Up before you will see any change. Please do not hit the Sign Up button more than once or you will receive multiple confirmations for the same selections. Thanks!
- When your entries have been accepted, the screen will revert to the top of this page. Your only confirmation will be sent to your e-mail.
