Our normal LGMA luncheon meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month at noon. Food is normally provided, but occasionally we meet at a restaurant. In such cases, each person pays for themselves.
Our November luncheon will be hosted at noon on Tuesday, November 19 by Mission Granbury. Mission Granbury is located at 3611 Plaza East Court in Granbury.
Our speaker this month will be Dusti Scovel, Executive Director of Mission Granbury. She will be giving an update on the programs Mission Granbury provides to those in the community who are in need of assistance.
Dusti is a fifth-generation Texan with over 30 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. Since 2015, she has served as the Executive Director of Mission Granbury, where she leads efforts to provide essential services to families in need. Previously, Dusti was CEO of a multi-site, federally funded health clinic in Eastern New Mexico, where she led a team of healthcare professionals serving as the only medical resource for the county. Her dedication to helping others also includes roles at SAMMinistries, a homeless ministry in San Antonio, and Big Springs Ranch for Children in Leakey, Texas — both deeply personal missions for Dusti, who was raised in a children’s home in the Texas Hill Country.
In addition to her work, Dusti is a writer, contributing to several magazines over the years. She believes her life’s journey has been preparation for her current role, where she’s honored to “help rewrite someone’s story by giving them help and hope.”
Dusti attended Abilene Christian University and Lubbock Christian University. She and her husband, artist and sculptor Mike Scovel, have been married for 48 years. Together, they have six children, including two adopted, and two foster children and are blessed with 15 grandchildren, including two sets of twins, and five great-grandchildren.
Please RSVP by clicking this link no later than noon, FRIDAY, November 15.
This month is our annual meeting. The nominating committee is recommending Don Smarto, one of our current Vice Presidents and Pastor of Southside Baptist Church, to be President and Rabbi Katherine Hall to be re-elected as Treasurer. They do not yet have a recommendation for Vice President. We will announce it when they have a recommendation.
We will also begin collecting 2025 dues. Dues are $25 per organization. All members from your organization are covered by the single payment.
