Dodd always dreamed of being a country singer like Merle Haggard. He started playing and singing professionally at the age of 13, played in bands all through high school and into college and had the privilege to work with some of the biggest names in country music in venues all over the U.S.
In 1996, Dodd met Jesus Christ and his life was forever changed. Dodd traded the country music lifestyle of playing honkytonks and bars for playing in a praise band and singing in the choir. Two years later he surrendered to the call of music ministry and felt led to join a southern gospel quartet.
Dodd was ordained in 2011 by Lakeside Baptist Church in Granbury, Texas, where he and his family have been members since 2007.
Over the past 18 years Dodd worked with four quartets starting with Jericho Road(tenor), followed by Prodigal (lead), Praise Incorporated (baritone) and lastly Paul’s Journey (lead). Dodd has shared the stage with some of the top groups and soloist in southern gospel music, including Gold City, Brian Free & Assurance, Greater Vision, Mark Trammell Quartet, The Isaacs, Ann Downing, Joseph Habedank, and Ivan Parker. He’s performed on the main stage of the National Quartet Convention several times, sang on many recording projects, and was honored with a number one song with Paul’s Journey.
In June of 2015 Dodd left Paul’s Journey to embark on a solo career, and his first solo project was released in June of 2016. “I have felt for some time that I was called to do more than just serve as a vocalist in a quartet and I believe the time has come to step out and see where God leads me. I look forward to seeing where God takes me!”
